Pastoral Care

Dear Parents, Students and Staff,

It is with great excitement we welcome 2020 and all the amazing possibilities which await us within this year.

The Department would firstly like to welcome all our new students and their parents to Sirius College and wish them all the best throughout their time at Sirius.

We would also like to notify you of some important changes which will take place this year. We have changed our department’s title to Pastoral Care and Wellbeing (PCW) for 2020 onward as we believe there is a focus on student wellbeing and care throughout all our initiatives which was not captured by the title Pastoral Care.

Additionally, from this year, we will be implementing a curriculum designed specifically to cater for our students’ effective progress and development during PCW subjects. In this respect, students will undertake a course designed for their respective year level from Year 7 to Year 12. In Years 7 and 8, their course will be Identity and Personal Development, in Years 9 and 10 it will be Social Justice and Dialogue and in Years 11 and 12 they will be provided with a Leadership course.

Each course will have practical components where students will have the opportunity to implement their acquired knowledge and skills. These courses are enriched with content from a number of respective fields and aim to address our students’ needs holistically, while nurturing them with positive thinking and action. The curriculum documents will be available to all of our students, their parents as well as our school community in general, and you will be notified when they have been uploaded to our system.

We believe that all these changes will provide for an enjoyable and beneficial Pastoral Care and Wellbeing experience for all our students this year.

We have commenced PCW programs for most year levels early in the term and although we have been affected by some system issues, these have been resolved and we look forward to a smooth year of programs for all year levels from week 5. The photos present a snapshot of some of our activities this year. We look forward to a productive and rewarding year.
